Simpson collaborated with Allerton Landscapes and Treetops Landscapes to create a bite-sized version of a country garden, filled with evergreens and perennials, and a wild vine that adds a touch of playfulness. The existing layout was workable, but the studio undertook a full strip-out of the floors, the kitchen, and bathrooms to give the property a fresh start. The only major change was the removal of the staircase wall, which opened up the ground floor and allowed the space to breathe. This simple intervention delivered a major impact, creating a sense of arrival and visual connection between the internal spaces.
In the principal bedroom, a pair of antique burl wood side tables flank the bed, while the tapestry on the wall is an antique fabric from Maud Vaughan. The dressing room features bespoke wardrobes fitted with curtains from Audery Johns, and the principal bathroom is a sanctuary of polished brass and marble. The wet room, with its Calacatta Marble mini mosaic flooring and Verde marble border, is a testament to the designer's attention to detail and commitment to creating a serene atmosphere.
In the boot room, bespoke joinery maximizes storage and practicality without compromising on style, while the hallway features a bench seat with storage underneath. The TV room, decorated with a Temple Noon rug and a Ledge CoVee Table, is a space for relaxation and entertainment. The entrance hall, with its mix of Porcini Emperador honed marble and Calacatta Amber honed marble, sets the tone for the entire house.
